I've been using this briefcase for a year, and all around I've definitely gotten my money's worth from it.Last year I was promoted, and with the job change I decided to purchase a briefcase, to help better keep my professional life organized. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, as I hadn't used one previously (so if I didn't end up needing one I wouldn't have wasted a lot of money). So I found myself ordering this one.For what you pay for it, it's actually a really decent briefcase. Obviously this is not a higher-end, top of the line model, but for it's purpose it does a really good job.Pros:The material holds up to wear and tear fairly well. The bottom of the briefcase includes little "feet" that keep it from being set down directly on the ground/floor.The combination lock is easy to set and reset. The "hold open" mechanism seems to work fine for me (although a few other reviewers mentioned it gave them problems). There's ample space inside for storage! (Presently I'm storing my company laptop, personal tablet, a thicker leather padfolio, two pens, a phone charger, check book and business card holder).Cons:The corners do tend to show damage more easily than the flat surfaces do.The locks can feel "stuck" from time to time (usually you just need to check the combination, sometimes latching the lock moves the dial-simple fix).Internal pouch feels like cardboard wrapped in fabric (it holds up just fine, I've been storing my laptop in this sleeve-it just has a cheap feel to it)In conclusion; if you are looking for a decent beginner briefcase, this definitely will serve it's purpose! If you've used briefcases in the past and are looking for an upgrade- this will most likely disappoint. All in all a decent product for someone settling into their first office job! This briefcase is total junk. The metal hinges are very cheap, and barely keep the briefcase open, often it will collapse will on my desk. Then, after about 4 months, I noticed the bottom was starting to come apart because it is glued (the faux leather skin is really some sort of polyester I think) and they must have used cheap glue. Last month, the inside liner on the top of the briefcase (the one that hold 2 pens and has slots to hold papers) completely became unglued and has ripped itself away from the wall of the briefcase rendering it completely useless. So, after 14 moths, I have to buy a new one. I am going to contact the seller and see if they will replace this. If they do, I will update this post. Perhaps it was just a bad briefcase, a lemon, and the rest of their products are made better.UPDATE- I contacted the company as advised by Amazon. They had me send pictures of the broken briefcase, and after reviewing, they agreed that is would be covered under warranty and they promptly sent me a replacement. The customer service was prompt, fair and appreciated. I still do not understand why I had the problems with the original briefcase that I did, but to be fair to the seller/manufacturer, they made it right, so kudo's to themLet's be honest: this is a $30 briefcase, you know you're not getting a premium product. That said, I think I would have liked a little longer than three months before it started showing signs of wear. I bought this for an internship so I didn't have to bring a backpack to meet with clients, and it's performed adequately in that capacity. The locks are mediocre quality, often freezing or sticking, but reliably open eventually. The body of the briefcase has started warping under the weight of a laptop and a pair of notebooks where it connects to the handle, but I don't think anyone else notices yet. The outside of the case is cheap, but only if you look closely. The interior pockets are good, and I don't have any complaints about them except that I would have liked a closeable pocket for small things like extra pencil lead. I ended up using the phone pocket for that, because who puts their phone in their briefcase? In short, I would recommend this highly for any person who is entering a professional or office environment, but uncertain how long they'll be there. Interns, temp workers, people in a situation of uncertain time. Or maybe you need a stopgap while you save up for a proper briefcase. I would not recommend this for anyone who is established in a line of work where they need an attaché.UPDATE: it's been five months, and the little studs that lock the briefcase open have worn flat. Only gravity will keep it open now.The second I opened it I felt like I just sold out my boss for a million dollars and had to run out the building through the fire escape while getting shot it. But when I open the case I swear I thought there were gonna be diamonds in there cause I felt so gangster opening it up.The brief case worked fine until about a month ago when one of the latches would not snap in the down position. I really liked carrying brief to work due to the light weight. I realize that this is out of the return period which was July of this year. I want to know if there is a manufacture warranty of some sort and if I could be directed to some person there. If you need a cheap briefcase for 5-6 months then this is it. But be warned, with normal usage mine fell apart. Used it to carry my laptop to and from work. I have a 17 inch Lenovo laptop, not super heavy just average and it totally fell apart. I lost an important key and whatever else I don't even know about when a hole opened up in the seam. Great value for the money. If you are a professional or businessperson and presentation is everything then this case is not for you. If you’re blue collar like me and just need something to keep bills of lading/logbooks/seals and things together than it’s almost perfect. I don’t need the locks so won’t comment on them but the case feels sturdy and well presented. Not overpriced at all. However, the reason I only give it 4 stars is because the case itself is not expandable which I read that it was. Would have liked the expansion feature like my old case but it is what it is. I do recommend it as I said before great value for the money. Now that I'm working from home and need to keep my files locked up, this works amazing. It fits all my files, calendar, and other papers plus pencils etc all neatly tucked away at home, and the locking system is so easy to use. I never thought of buying a briefcase, until my son suggested it, and I absolutely love it.
